Well, I've decided to eat my way across Texas; at least to the hill country, that is. The Houston Press recently wrote about the best hamburger in Texas. Maybe I can do a better job?
I plan to look for the best "road food" available between Houston and the entire hill country during my journey. I'll visit Sipapu, maybe even Paonia, next year.

Sipapu 2005?
To go or not to go? I planned to leave the Houston area no later than Wednesday morning, 7 September 2005. That way, I would have two and one-half days to comfortably ride across Texas, ascend the mountains in the Carson National Forest and take my time setting up my campsite on the slopes of the Sipapu Ski Resort, 20 miles or so South of Taos, NM. Sipapu is the location of the annual Bavarian Mountain Weekend sponsored by the Land Of Enchantment BMW riders.
A long distance road trip is exactly what I need to re-charge my batteries. Yet, my departure date changed because of business and family reasons. I cannot leave before Thursday, 8 September 2005. Ergo, I am contemplating foregoing the Sipapu destination and heading to the ever so close (relatively speaking) Texas Hill Country. I'll take a look a the map, calculate ride time, and make a decision later this afternoon.
